In these instances, Ms. Setzer provides advice to clients and works with them “behind the scenes” so that they are well prepared and informed, regardless of the circumstances. For example, Ms. Setzer will consult with a client who is thinking about divorce and wants to receive information about his or her rights and obligations before filing for divorce; if she is not serving as a mediator, Ms. Setzer may provide legal advice to a client who is currently attending mediation with another professional; she may meet with a client to prepare him or her for what to expect in mediation; she might review a settlement agreement for a client or a premarital agreement prior to it being signed.
